Fine Art Background
Background
I started painting from an early age, where I developed visual and research skills . These skills were further developed in Stillorgan, where I spent my time creating art with different mediums and building my portfolio for NCAD. During my time in NCAD, I developed an understanding of the thinking process about developing ideas before putting them into practice. The creative elements along with the thinking process and research skills I learnt while undergoing my degree has helped me produce meaningful artefacts. Along the way I picked up skills on Adobe programs, mainly using Photoshop. After time was spent reaching topics and ideas were formed I used Photoshop to create pictures before painting them onto a canvas.
NCAD Show
For my final show in NCAD, I designed the above interior rooms on Photoshop before recreating them on canvas. Each room echoed bright bold colours, yet a sense of Isolation to set the mood. The painting was painted on to canvas scaling up to 220cm width and 120cm height with oil paint. I wanted each room to have elements of an unfinished look to them, thus inviting the viewer to create their own finished piece. Each painting was painted in a playful manner, allowing each stroke to express itself.
